The X-Men have to go to New York and help since its being attacked by aliens. Yes, like aliens aliens. Unfortunately they cannot help us find the Guardians, so we need to take care of it.
We should go check out the Watchtower. I have the range to make it, but have only seen pictures.
I open a gate and send Icarus through to make sure the environment is good for us to be there. It’s fine, so we go through. Red emergency lights on flashing bad news at us.
Let’s check the security footage. Access denied. Fantastic. Time to go hacking. I should see if Allison can help. Mom and Dad can deal. Turn on hyperintelligence and try to communicate with computer. I have very little access.
The ship is still in the hangar, nor is there evidence of forced entry or exit. No signs of a fight either. WTF? I can get us Level 1 access, which does not give us much in the way of freedom, but we can get through some basic doors – Command Central, Mess Hall, Guest area.
I need Allison’s help to get us the access we need. Guardian level access. Elli calls her. Princess Override. She is reluctant right up until Synergy tells her Mom and Dad are missing. So she is promised a trip to the Watchtower.
Princess Override gets through the door of the command center at the mansion. And then she loses connection with us.
I check out the news. It basically boils down to ALIENS ATTACKING NEW YORK CITY AND THE GUARDIANS HAVE BLOWN IT OFF. WTF?
Princess Override calls back. Apparently, she got freaked out and her phone blew up.
We work together to get into the computer. Suddenly, the AI awakens. Crap. It goes toward PO, so I get its attention. It comes toward me and I identify myself. It wants to access my brain. It sounds like mom and dad talking at the same time.
It wants to scan my brain for something. After some thought, I let it. It welcomes me as their daughter. We are given temporary Guardian access to the Watchtower until the access is revoked by the Guardians. Princess Override gets disconnected for the safety of the station.
Yosono and Helix go explore the tower. I stay and watch the security footage.
Celestia was on duty monitoring Earth. The red alert claxons start going off. She looks surprised when she looks at the scans. She sends out a message: all Guardian Recall. Ooh. That’s not good. They meet in the conference room and she talks about something very bad happening a galaxy and a half away. They sent a distress beacon specifically to the Guardians. Discussion. Apparently they’ve been watching us and want help. They agree to go and Celestia opens a gate.
I decide to try and send a message to Caraveros telling it bad things are going on here, like an alien invasion. It totally doesn’t work.
The others are exploring. Yosono finds a hologram in Hedron’s room. It even has Dad’s attitude. There is a file in the computer that I need to find. He put it there in case it was a trap.
Daughter We’re Fucked – yeah, that’s my Dad’s filenames for you. It’s a set of coordinates. Galactic coordinates. I guess we’re taking the ship. It will take us there in a matter of hours.
If the trackers are on, we can track them within 3 planetary orbits. I create a device that will track them within 100 mi. It is even sophisticated enough to prevent others from using it.
Yosono and Helix go down to the ship. Ooooooooooooooooooooh! It’s a gorgeous piece of machinery.
3 Priority One messages. SHIELD. Stronghold. POTUS.
Pharoh. Nick Fury. The President.
“Where are the Guardians?”
“Not here. They were lured away into a trap.”
“Yes, and now we’re going to try and rescue them and hopefully not get killed.”
“Good. You do that.” Click.
So, no ‘good luck’ then? At least the President wanted our help in NYC.
Yosono and I are piloting. Minerva was uploaded from Earth.
Synergy takes the engine room.
Icarus serenades us with traditional space music the entire time we are leaving. He stops by request.
It takes us several hours to get to the coordinates. Four, to be exact.
We slow down and approach a planet. It’s very desolate. Wow. That’s not good. It’s a desert planet. Arizona.
The computer is not picking up the tracking devices. Crap. I try and contact Mom mentally. No phone. Scan for lifesigns. I find 4 Asgardian lifesigns. There appears to be some sort of interference. The Asgardians appear to be in a structure of some sort. We land nearby.
We head in the Asgardian’s general direction. And then the sandstorm hits. Fortunately, it masks our approach. They appear to have some sort of staff weapon and light armour. We can see 2 males and 2 other mystery people in front of a door.
Time to negotiate.
So, Loki’s lackey is unwilling to let us get the Guardians. He has no idea what is behind door #1, but wants to keep it shut since there might be a new car. I ask nicely. He consults with his friend, and they move back. And that’s when the shooting starts.
Synergy reflects the shot and it blows up the turret. Yosono hits #7 with a big-ass ball of ice. Ouch. I follow up with some lightning. #7 takes 80 points to the chest. And then the two bookends freak. “She wields the power of Thor!” Helix makes himself a riot shield out of crystal. #2 blasts me with his staff. 100 points of damage. Ow! And now I have 8 endurance left. #7 shoots at Yosono. The other two are still frozen and do nothing. Synergy comes over to me and stands in front with her reflection enabled.
Yosono hits #7 with another ice ball. 40 pts. Ew. He’s not looking healthy. I hit him for another 50. With a Red FEAT. He raises into the air and is fried. Unc. I ask for their surrender and #1 drops his weapon. I send him out of the fight and we continue. #2 is hard core and #8 reluctantly feels obligated to obey Loki. Crap. I bring up my shield. Helix shoots a crystal at #2 staff and it starts to crystalize before the staff resists and it stops. And then he joins Yosono. #2, Mr. Hard Core, decides to go after the one wielding Thor’s power. Synergy braces herself and reflects part of it back at him but takes part of it herself. He takes another shot that gets fully reflected. Ouch. #8 shoots a hole in Helix’s shield. He refracts the rest. And then he throws down his weapon and says ‘forget this’.
- plans to kill #8 when this is all over. And then Yosono blasts him. He looks like crap now. I ask him to surrender and he refuses, of course. So I shoot him. 50 points of damage later he falls unconscious. Combat over.
Now we have to get through the door. According to #1, Loki opens the door by touching it with his glowing stick of destiny. He has no idea where on the door, how thick the door is, or what is behind the door. He just guards it. Since there are no visible mechanisms, it’s probably some sort of Asgardian magic/tech thing.
The tesseract is mentioned and we speculate that maybe it is an alternately dimensional space filled with Loki’s alien army. WTF is that doing on Earth? Or with Loki, of all people. #8 refuses to help us, so we decide we need to find a way through the door as opposed to opening it. I think I will see if I can transmute it into something. Helix tries to mould it, but it does not work. I change an area the size of a small door for Helix to go through using his phasing.
Synergy suggests someone go with him, and they pass through 4 feet of fabric to get inside. It’s pitch black. IR reveals there are no heat sources. Helix comes to get me and Yosono shapes it so she can walk through.
There is a small touchpad next to the door written in what we think is Asgardian. I activate my hyperintelligence. Using it, I am able to decipher the script into Deactivate, Lights, and Open Door. In order to test things, I press the Lights button. Large overhead lights turn on. There are two doors besides the entrance and a large robot with 5 other smaller lackeys.
A mechanical construct is at the other side of the room. “Identify yourself.” Time to try out the deactivate button. It shuts all the robots down.
The Open Door button opens the entrance door. I ask #1 to come in and help us translate the writing. Open Door 1; Deactivate Drones; Lights. Time to look for another panel. #1 finds it on the door and presses the button.
Okay, what is this guy’s name? It will be better if we need to yell for him to do something. Baror.
The door opens. There are two pods suspended behind a device. 2 people. Xariel and Citadel. We open the other side. Nihoto and Magnus.
“Welcome!” A hologram of Loki appears. “You don’t belong here.” He threatens us if we don’t get into some of the pods and I distract him. Yosono disrupts the energy flow and he disappears, just as we are getting ready to play 20 questions. Dammit. I was actually looking forward to asking him about the tesseract.
Look for a way to open the pods. Baror needs to help us or we’re all screwed. (Sorry, Gran)
I find the control panel hidden on the pod. Open, press first, and self-destruct. Well crap. I hope this guy is right. Go to Xariel’s pod and press the first button. I pray this will work. The pod drains and we open it up. She falls out of the pod and Helix and I catch her. She wakes up, pissed that it was a trap. Then we wake up Citadel, Nihoto, and Magnus. Magnus nearly blasts us and Nihoto almost takes off my head.
There are no other pods there, which means Mom, Dad, Archon, and Arclight are all missing.
Time for 20 questions. They are not on this world or on a ship. They are sometimes in the solar system. Planet with unusual orbit? We need to get onto the ship and scan the system so we can locate the planet. Ask about the tesseract. It’s a doorway when used correctly and is sometimes an energy source.
We head out. Magnus grabs me and takes me to the ship to get healed.
Time to go look for the parents.
