I take Elli’s performances and link them together in a video to post on my YouTube page. I also cut together a highlights video for the competition including the other competitors.
Peter arrives back at school Sunday night right before curfew and gets to hear all about the aborted assembly. He gets to see the shaky student video. His new female friends tell him all about it. He also gets to see the video of Elli’s performance.
Rumours are that Cynthia was taken to Stronghold by Citadel and she’s in jail. Ooooooooh!
And then Peter gets to macking on the nameless chick. They go study “Physics”.
The next morning, I plant a laser banner congratulating her in the dining hall.
Cynthia is not there. The rumours fly. – she’s in jail; she’s in trouble with her dad; she’s one of the bad guys the Guardians fight; no one is ever going to see her again; the auditorium has been destroyed by some massive fight (no one has been in there since Friday)
Debate class is interesting with a debate between Katherine Lansing (one of Cynthia’s lackeys; MI) about the registration act and she gets trounced in typical Alessandra way. She has no idea who Bill Gates and Steve Jobs are. Woo. Talk about battling an unarmed opponent. She surrenders and we go into the lesson about the structure of informal debates.
Calculus! Woot. Adrian is back – still a bit sick but drugged and a bit better.
We go to lunch. Cynthia is still not back. Peter is, and we talk about his search for band ppl.
Professor Lansing puts a stop to the requests for a lunchroom performance.
Oopsie. We talk about Icarus in front of Adrian. Ah well. It was inevitable that he would come up at some point. Good thing I built another body for him to get around the house with when guests are around.
Physics. Professor Reynolds is not there. We have a substitute. Dr. Victor Benedict – teaches Physics at University of Penn. Ooh. He’s a PhD. No wonder he’s so snobby. We discuss the physics of gymnastics. I throw up a simulation of the examples. One warning stops the applause.
My friends crow about my abilities to him, and we discuss attending college. Too bad I’m not going to U of Penn. Classes during my free school times?
We go to the Sanctum. An Illusion appears. He is away doing what he needs to with our wayward metahuman. Leave the details to us. Working in his lab. Will return when he can. Plan to be back by Wednesday; if not, please come look for him.
We tell Peter about Mezmera.
I head off to JETS while Peter practices in the Sanctum; Cyrillo goes to track; Elli to gymnastics, which is crowded; Kimyee to lacrosse
March 22, Tuesday morning…
It appears Michigan has ascended to the throne and has her own sycophants. She’s adopted some of Cynthia’s lackeys. And she’s throwing her power around like a 300 lb. weight.
Goes to pick on nerd – Chester. She tells him he’s useless and wonders why he has not killed herself yet. What a prat. We confront her and she moves on. (maybe I should not have said “bloody hell”) Gran is going to be pissed.
The Lansings – father is business tycoon – energy company (assorted areas in order to make max moolah); mother is major lobbyist (gymnastics coach is distant cousin)
So, Michigan has taken over the top dog position, leaving it classless with someone who has the subtlety of a Sherman tank. This is going to be oh so much fun.
We want Cynthia back.
I begin plotting against her electronic books. Peter observes her in home room. She’s putting up a front because of her insecurities. She’ll lash out at a perceived threat or opposition. She expects the praise and adulation. i.e. She’s a total uber-bitch.
Girl from old clique is also there. She is hedging her bets with Katherine but hoping Cynthia gets back. She’s playing both sides because she wants a position in whatever order survives. She had a higher position in Cynthia’s clatch.
Dakota has been raised to the right-hand of Katherine’s power. She’s fanatical too thanks to the heavy-handed ego-stroking. Weak minded fool.
Debate. Ooooooh. This is going to be interesting.
She strolls in and tells the professor that she needs to resign from the class because she no longer needs it because she does not need to speak with those lesser than her. He agrees, but on the condition that she prove it by debating a team of his choice judged by the debate coach at the U of Penn. She chooses Elli. Eesh. Poor Elli.
And then Cynthia walks in. YES!!!! I am so glad she is here since she’s one of the best debaters in class. Debate scheduled for class tomorrow. 20 minutes and then 5 minute rebuttal. Will take place in the Auditorium. Modern history class gets to watch.
Topic is: Private School Students vs. Public School Students; Which is better?
Define better. Oh, it’s whatever you want to define it as.
Wow. She’s really sabotaging her own topic. That is way too open and promises to be very humiliating.
Professor is going to get someone from the outside to come supervise the class since he’s part of the debate team. Professor Lansing.
The rest of the class read and do assignments while we research and make our argument outlines.
So, apparently Elli is pissed and tells Kimyee about the fact that she is “part of the argument” and does not get to participate.
In Calculus we get the story from Elli. Wow. Emasculating a third of your team is a bad strategy. Even if she is and “example”. This is going to be a slaughter.
Peter canvasses the area to find out where the lines are drawn. Divided on popularity lines. The popular ppl are on Katherine’s side because they think she’s going to be the next in power. Everyone either doesn’t care or is rooting for us.
I introduce Adrian to Icarus. Peter labels Amper as Robo-chicken. Seriously? I should market it.
The rest of the day goes by uneventfully until Physics. Professor Reynolds is back. We tell him about the last class, leaving out the fact that I seized control of the screen and displayed simulations along with his lecture.
Today’s lesson is multiple theories of time travel. Discuss those including the fact that time travelers would have to be among us.
Cyrillo works on Psion while the rest of us are at our activities.
The night passes…
Off to Debate. Well this should be interesting.
We get to the auditorium and there are the 2 classes as witness. Elli is arguing with Michigan.
The only reason she chose Elli was because she did not want her on our team and she does not deserve to be here as she is a charity case.
Damn, has she pissed off Elli.
Students have an HD camera set up while I record with the my 3d cameras and Icarus. Peter is streaming it live to TMZ and other sites.
It goes all sorts of wrong for Michigan.
The debate professor awards us victory which pisses off Michigan and she yells about how she should have won because she was supposed to. Afterwards, I go with Kimyee to calm Elli.
Cynthia is a bit different. Calmer and apologetic about things that she has done. She wants to get into media production and get into reporting. The reason she was late was because she was telling her father about not wanting to go being in politics. She had a life-changing experience and spoke with someone recently who helped her realize what she’s been doing.
She even apologizes to Elli. Elli warns her she’s had her one chance.
Cynthia does not want to be at the top of the food chain and would prefer for someone else to be the princess while she serves as the checks and balances. No, it will not be me.
Lunchtime comes and Katherine finds herself alone with only Dakota to keep her company. Ouch. She’s going to be the social leper for a while. She comes over to get all snarly. She threatens to sue me and my parents for defamation of character. Go for it. Elli states she should sue Katherine for the same thing and slander.
Michigan storms off.
117 ppl have downloaded my Advanced Materials article!
Cynthia apologizes for her behaviour and Peter suggests we move on. She liked what he did at her party. She’s heard rumours about him starting a band.
We tell Cynthia about some of our conversations including metahuman stuff. We also chat about guys who can cook.
She has until the end of this school year to change her mind or she’s going to spend her senior year in public school. Mom is a 50’s house frau and has no will of her own.
Peter advises her to fight for her life. He and his father have an agreement to leave each other be. She is more established on her own and needs the space to live her own life. She is better off now that she has gone out on her own with new friendships and influence.
Back to class…
The rest of the day passes smoothly. No one attacks and no freak Katherine encounters. She even leaves Chester alone after he tells her off.
Prof. Reynolds wants to speak with us after school and our practices this evening. After JETS for me.
He removed the complicated spell from her and shielded her from the mage dude. He’s had her for a while since she started manifesting her abilities in middle school. She did not know what voices were hers and was well on her way to the crazy house if he had not come along. She was using her abilities on other students as part of maintaining her popularity.
Elli does not think she is genuine and that there is no way she can turn around. She wants to talk with X-Factor to apologize. This Friday evening. 8 pm. At the igloo field.
We need to go to Phoenix and get Cyrillo in the lab to analyze how the nanites react to his physiology.
Citadel calls from Stronghold. They talked to the prisoners. They think they have found their training facility in central PA. They are a threat, but Stronghold has other issues they are worrying about. Stronghold acknowledges our capabilities and wants our help in taking care of this. Go to facility, rescue any children, deactivate malicious tech, stop the madness.
It’s a well-guarded facility and it might help if Helix were to remember all he could about it. But it needs to be done soon. We have the choice of any one of the Guardians to accompany us.
First, we need to take care of his nanite issues. We’ll call when ready.
We are all going to head out to Phoenix.
